Photo Tips for Custom Paint by Numbers
Your custom paint by numbers kit can only be as good as your photo. These eight tips help you choose a picture that turns into a clear, beautiful painting.
The best photos for custom paint by numbers are...
- High quality originals. Phone photos are fine, but please no screenshots or images saved from chats.
- Taken in daylight. Light through a window is perfect. Avoid harsh sun that makes faces dark.
- Full of contrast. Even a black cat should show different shades of black and gray.
- Looking at the camera. For pets this is the hardest part; a treat helps.
- Free from cover. Nothing in front of the subject, and the pet is not lost in a busy sofa pattern.
- Clearly separated from the background. The subject should stand out.
- Complete. The whole head should be in the photo. If the ears are cropped in the photo, they are cropped in the painting.
- Close up. A pet far away in a big field becomes very small on the canvas.
What is in your custom kit
- A 16×20 in (40×50 cm) canvas with pre-printed numbered sections made from your photo
- Water-based acrylic paints, ready to use, no mixing
- Three brushes: small, medium and large
- Your choice of 24, 36 or 48 colors. More colors mean more detail.
Why paint your own photo?
Painting by numbers is a relaxing way to switch off after a busy day, and with your own photo the result is truly personal: a memory you made with your own hands, ready to hang on the wall or give as a gift.
